Audition - 26/02/23

Out of step with the spirit of romance, Nitrate Film Club are over the moon to present a perfect anti-Valentine's film - the 1999 horror masterpiece Audition, from Miike Takashi (Ichi The Killer, Visitor Q).

Adapted from Murakami Ryu's book of the same name, Audition follows Aoyama, a widower in search of a new wife. Under false pretences, women are lured into an interview upon which the widower becomes infatuated with Asami, a seemingly ideal candidate who is not without her own secrets...

A particular highlight of Miike Takashi's sprawling filmography and arguably his strongest work, this film represents quintessential J-horror - a masterclass in psychological horror and tension.

The event will take place at The Old Hairdressers, Renfield Lane, G2 6PH on Sunday the 26th of February 2023. Doors will open to the screening at 7:30PM so there's plenty of time to get a drink and a seat, with the film commencing at 8PM.
