El Topo - 26/04/23

Seen only for years on blurred Japanese laserdiscs or prohibitively expensive nth generation bootleg video cassettes, Nitrate Film Club are thrilled to present the original midnight movie - Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1970 acid western epic, El Topo.

Directed, written by, composed, and starring Jodorowsky, the surreal film follows a black-clad gunfighter seeking spiritual enlightenment. Swollen with Judeo-Christian symbolism, horrific violence, mysticism, psychedelia, and countercultural kudos, El Topo is truly a film that must be seen to be believed. You will not be the same by the time the credits roll.

The event will take place at The Old Hairdressers, Renfield Lane, G2 6PH on Wednesday the 26th of April 2023. Doors will open to the screening at 7PM so there's plenty of time to get a drink and a seat, with the film commencing at 7:30PM.
